In short
A KRUS pensioner gets a mortgage on the same terms as a ZUS pensioner: the bank counts the net farmer’s pension from the KRUS decision and bank statements. Women qualify from 60 and men from 65 after at least 25 years of KRUS insurance, and since 15 June 2022 running a farm does not reduce the pension. If you receive pensions from both KRUS and ZUS, show the bank both. The loan term is limited by your age at the last instalment, so the amount is usually raised by a younger co-borrower, for example a child who took over the farm.
How much the KRUS pension is in 2026
The farmer’s pension has a contribution part and a supplementary part. KRUS calculates both from the basic pension, which from 1 March 2026 is 1,780.64 zł gross, and the result depends on the number of years of contributions. The exact amount, also net, is in the indexation decision KRUS sends every year.
How banks treat the KRUS pension
For a bank the farmer’s pension is a stable income granted for life and indexed every year, so it is counted like a ZUS pension. A person entitled to both a KRUS and a ZUS pension receives both, and the bank adds up the net amounts from the two decisions. Since 15 June 2022 a pensioner does not have to hand over or lease the farm to receive the full pension; income from the farm can be counted separately, on the same rules as for an active farmer. Rent from leased land is income outside the pension, and whether a bank counts it depends on the bank.
Pension paid by the postman
In February 2026 about one in three KRUS beneficiaries received benefits in cash from the postman. Banks usually want to see the pension arriving on a bank account, so it is worth switching to a bank transfer a few months before applying.
Documents to prepare
The current KRUS indexation decision, the ZUS decision if you receive both pensions, bank statements for 3 months showing the pension, a land lease agreement if you want to show the rent, and documents of a co-borrower’s income. Most banks need documents in Polish.

Frequently asked questions
Does a Polish bank count a KRUS pension as income?
Yes. The farmer’s pension is granted for life and indexed every year, so the bank counts it like a ZUS pension: the net amount from the KRUS decision and bank statements.
I have pensions from KRUS and ZUS. Will the bank count both?
Yes, if both are paid. Show the bank both decisions and statements with the payments, and the bank adds up the net amounts.
Can I keep running the farm on a KRUS pension?
Yes. Since 15 June 2022 farming does not affect the amount of the farmer’s pension. The bank can count documented farm income separately.
