In Polish: WIBOR
This is the word you will see in bank documents.
Definition
WIBOR (Warsaw Interbank Offered Rate) is a benchmark rate showing the rate at which banks declare they are willing to lend złoty to each other for 1, 3 or 6 months. Polish mortgages most often use WIBOR 3M or 6M, and the variable interest rate is WIBOR plus the bank's margin. On 23 October 2026 WIBOR 3M stood at about 3.89%.
What it means for you
If you have a variable-rate mortgage based on WIBOR, your instalment goes up and down with this benchmark, usually every 3 or 6 months. From 1 January 2027 banks may not use WIBOR in new agreements, but existing loans continue without an annex. WIBOR 1M, 3M and 6M are to be published until 31 December 2036.
