In Polish: Odstąpienie od umowy kredytu
This is the word you will see in bank documents.
Definition
Withdrawal from a loan agreement is a consumer's statutory right to back out of a mortgage agreement without giving a reason within 14 days of signing it (Article 42 of the Polish Mortgage Credit Act). It is enough to send a statement to the address given by the bank. If the loan has been paid out, you return it with interest for the period of use, within 30 days at the latest.
What it means for you
You have two weeks to change your mind, e.g. when another bank makes a better offer. The bank may not charge other fees beyond non-refundable costs paid to public authorities. When buying a flat, however, the money goes straight to the seller, so withdrawal makes sense mainly if you have the funds to return the capital.

Frequently asked questions
How many days do I have to withdraw from a mortgage agreement?
14 days from signing, without giving a reason. What counts is the date the registered letter was posted or the statement was sent to the electronic delivery address.
Do I have to pay the commission after withdrawing?
No. You pay only interest from the payout to repayment, and the bank may keep only non-refundable costs paid to public authorities.
Does withdrawing from the loan cancel the flat purchase?
No. The sale agreement signed before the notary remains in force, so the price must be financed in another way.
