In Polish: Aneks do umowy kredytu
This is the word you will see in bank documents.
Definition
An annex (aneks) to a loan agreement is a written arrangement between the bank and the borrower that changes selected terms of the existing agreement. Most often it concerns the interest rate, loan term, type of instalments, benchmark rate or the borrowers on the loan. All other clauses continue unchanged.
What it means for you
An annex lets you change the loan without moving it to another bank, e.g. to lower the instalment or switch to a fixed rate. The bank may charge a fee under its price list, and for changes that require creditworthiness it reassesses it. When setting a new fixed rate after a fixed period of at least 5 years, the bank may not charge fees.

Frequently asked questions
How much does an annex to a loan agreement cost?
It depends on the bank's price list. For setting a new rate after a fixed-rate period of at least 5 years, the bank may not charge a fee.
Must I sign an annex changing WIBOR to POLSTR?
No, the annex is voluntary. Without it, the loan will switch to the fallback benchmark as set out in the agreement.
Can the margin be lowered by an annex?
Yes, if the bank agrees, e.g. after the LTV falls or when you threaten to move the loan. The alternative is refinancing at another bank.
