This is the word you will see in bank documents.
Definition
BGK (Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego) is the Polish state development bank that runs government programmes, including housing ones. It does not grant mortgages to individuals, but works with commercial banks. It runs the guarantees in the Family Housing Loan, the Safe Loan 2% subsidies and the Borrower Support Fund.
What it means for you
You always use BGK through your own bank: that is where you apply for a loan with a guarantee or for support from the Fund. A BGK guarantee can replace up to PLN 100,000 of the down payment, and the Fund can pay part of your instalments for 40 months if you are in difficulty. BGK publishes the conditions and price limits on its website and changes them every quarter.
