In Polish: Ubezpieczenie pomostowe
This is the word you will see in bank documents.
Definition
Bridging insurance (ubezpieczenie pomostowe) is an extra cost the bank may charge from the loan payout until the mortgage is entered in the land register. It takes the form of a fee or a higher margin. Since 17 September 2022 the bank must refund it or credit it towards repayment of the loan after the mortgage is entered.
What it means for you
For a few weeks or months after the payout your instalment may be higher, because the bank does not yet have full security. After the mortgage is entered you get this cost back on the terms of the agreement, so in practice it is a temporary expense. Make sure the bank is informed about the entry and check in the agreement how it returns the money.
