In Polish: Limit karty i limit w koncie
This is the word you will see in bank documents.
Definition
A credit limit is an amount the bank makes available for you to use at any time: on a credit card or as an overdraft on your current account. It is revolving credit: you repay what you used and can use it again. When a bank calculates your creditworthiness, it looks at the limit granted, not at how much of it you use.
What it means for you
When calculating creditworthiness, the bank deducts a monthly charge for the limit from your income, usually a few percent of the amount granted. At 3% a month, a PLN 10,000 limit means PLN 300 less for the instalment and a loan about PLN 39,000 smaller at a buffered rate of 8.5% over 30 years. Close cards and limits you do not need before applying.

Frequently asked questions
Does an unused credit card lower my creditworthiness?
Yes. The bank counts the limit granted, not how much you use. Closing an unused card before applying usually increases creditworthiness.
Will closing a card damage my BIK history?
No. Closing a card is not negative information. Data on a repaid liability may stay in BIK if you consented to it.
How much creditworthiness does an overdraft take?
The same as a card with the same limit. At 3% a month, a PLN 5,000 overdraft is a PLN 150 monthly charge, or a loan about PLN 19,500 smaller at 8.5% over 30 years.
