In Polish: Transza kredytu
This is the word you will see in bank documents.
Definition
A tranche (transza) is part of the loan amount paid out at a specific time, e.g. after a construction stage is completed or according to the developer's payment schedule. A loan for a flat under construction or for building a house is usually paid out in several tranches. You pay interest only on the part paid out.
What it means for you
Tranches lower your costs at the start, because you do not pay interest on money not yet paid out. Each further tranche, however, requires conditions to be met, e.g. a site inspection, and a delayed stage holds up the payout. Interest during construction is an extra cost, often paid alongside rent.
